Although Beyond Acadia reads as a memoir, fiction interweaves Joseph Guillaume’s thoughts, fears, aspirations, interpretations, moods, and perceptions. Historical events’ times and settings are very close, if not exact, to actual happenings. Real and imaginary places, fabricated and altered names, invented characters and those based on the living or dead stream the passages and embellish the stories. Bill Boudreau’s novel, Redemption Island, makes many references to sequences and narratives in this book.
